Where is The Planning Application?

A question due to be answered at next week’s Tynwald sitting will seek clarity on the status and costs of the island’s proposed onshore windfarm project.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover has tabled a question to the Chair of Manx Utilities John Wannenburgh, asking why a planning application for the windfarm was not submitted in June as stated in the Island Plan Final Programme Report.

Mr Glover is also asking:

  • How much additional project‑development funding has been approved
  • Whether that funding is financially compliant
  • What the projected final cost of the windfarm is

The onshore windfarm is one of the Island Plan’s flagship renewable‑energy commitments, with Manx Utilities previously indicating that a planning application would be lodged this summer.

The question will be answered during next week’s sitting of Tynwald.
