To start the new year the Isle of Man Railways will be participating in a nationwide “Whistle-Up” event on New Years Day.
Steam engine ‘No.11 Maitland’ is planned be in steam for at Douglas Railway Station, with the workshops and running shed also open from 11am.
The railway Supporters’ Association is also planning to provide refreshments for visitors.
The public are invited to walk down the platform from 10:30am and it is intended to conclude the event around 1pm.
Groudle Glen Railway has also announced it plans other celebrate the milestone this year, but has not yet revealed how it will do this.
