Manx Utilities has confirmed that work on the proposed Cair Vie onshore wind farm remains at an early, pre‑application stage, with no planning application yet submitted.
The authority says ecological and technical assessments have been underway since 2024 to support what it describes as a “robust, evidence‑based” planning submission.
A formal application is being prepared for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture’s Planning and Building Control Directorate, after which all documents will be publicly available through the planning system.
Finalising Material
Manx Utilities says it is currently focused on finalising the material required for the submission.
It stresses that no elements of the project have been approved or procured, and that no construction or delivery commitments can be made without statutory approvals, including planning consent and consideration by Tynwald.
The organisation says it will continue to engage with stakeholders, including local MHKs, statutory consultees and residents, at the appropriate stages.
Further public engagement will take place once the application is submitted, with advance notice on how to view the documentation and take part in the consultation process.
Manx Utilities adds that information will be shared when proposals are sufficiently developed to allow meaningful engagement and proper scrutiny.
