Windfarm Application Referred to Panel

The Council of Ministers has referred the offshore windfarm application for examination to an independent panel of experts.

This is a requirement under the Marine Infrastructure Management Act 2016.

This follows the public consultation on the Mooir Vannin application, which closed on November 18 with 477 responses received.

All responses are publicly available on the government’s consultation hub.

Examination

The four-member panel, chaired by Menaka Sahai MRTPI, will now conduct a rigorous examination.

The panel will review the application and consultation responses before advising the Council of Ministers on whether to grant consent.

A preliminary meeting will formally commence the statutory examination period of 130 working days.

The Examining Body will issue further information about this public meeting in due course.

Under the MIMA, the Council of Ministers is the only decision-making body in respect of applications.
