The Ben-my-Chree’s freight run to Heysham proved to be anything but smooth sailing last night.
Due to wind speeds on number 3 berth being higher than risk assessment for Ben-my-Chree, the master aborted approach to Heysham and held off west of the Lune to allow wind speeds to moderate.
Manxman then arrived at Heysham ahead of Ben-my-Chree in order to discharge, load passengers and priority freight and depart, maximising usage of the available berth slots and minimising disruption to schedules.
The Ben later did berth and reload and will now arrive Douglas after Manxman has left for Heysham this morning.
