Nine young professionals have completed Zurich Isle of Man’s 14-week Summer Internship Programme, gaining hands-on work experience across the insurer’s departments.
The interns were Matthew Bell, Charlotte Brooks, Milly Donnelly, Joshua Holden, Christoforos Karezis, Andrew Kneale, Jema Richardson, Tyler Roche, and Heather Spiers.
Alongside this, the group also led a community project for Hospice Isle of Man, designing and building a therapeutic outdoor space.
A series of fundraisers, including bake sales and a quiz night, raised over £13,000, a total which includes match funding from the Z Zurich Foundation.
Rewarding
Intern Matthew Bell said: “Working with Zurich has been a truly rewarding experience.
“The Hospice project in particular has been incredibly insightful. Not only have I developed valuable people skills and teamwork, but I’ve also learned the importance of time management while meeting tight deadlines.
“Being part of the Hospice project has opened my eyes to the essential role charities play and just how much their work positively impacts lives.”
Impressed
Karen Mercer, Head of HR at Zurich, said: “This is the third year of our Summer Internship Programme, and once again we have been very impressed by the enthusiasm, positivity and hard work of everyone who took part this year.
“All nine interns seized this opportunity and went the extra mile to make the most of it.”
