Castletown Commissioners will host a free community event on Sunday to mark the 130th anniversary of Poulsom Park being gifted to the town.
The celebration runs from 1pm to 5pm and will open with the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band leading a march from the park gates, echoing the procession held in June 1896.
Residents are invited to join the walk alongside Commissioners.
Chairman Tony Brown said: “The gift of Poulsom Park in June 1896, by Mrs Poulsom a native of Castletown, is probably the greatest gift ever given to the people of Castletown, and we hope the community will join us to mark the 130th year since it was gifted to the Town.”
The afternoon will include music from the Silver Band, Manx dancing by Perree Bane, giant games, vintage engines, and Manx BirdLife’s ‘Celebrating Our Swifts’ activities. Children will also be invited to help plant four new trees to commemorate the anniversary.
A display of railway rolling stock and station heritage will be held with the Friends of Castletown Station, including a special appearance by Highland cattle in the reinstated Station Cattle Dock.
The event is free, with Castletown accessible by train, bus or car.
