Coffee-lovers rejoice! The old post office on the main road in Laxey is set to be transformed into ‘Swallow Coffee Shop and Bakery’, with a young entrepreneur at the helm.
Imogene Kewley is just 21, but with the support of her family, is “incredibly excited” to bring her baking talents to the east coast, with a formal opening date set to be announced in due course.
“At my age, being able to serve the community feels so rewarding! Laxey is such a unique place, and everyone here has welcomed us so warmly,” she said
“I’m obviously also quite nervous, and there seems to be a never ending list of things to do as a first time business owner, but it’ll be worthwhile soon enough!”
The eatery is centred around championing local, fresh and sustainable ingredients and practices, with a view to hosting clubs and activities in the future. The venture is also dog friendly, so customers are encouraged to bring their furry friends along to pick up their brew and bake.
Those with dietary requirements can also expect to be catered for, with a whole host of free-from treats to get your teeth into.
