Following public feedback, Manx Utilities is to consider additional venues in the south of the island for its public consultations.
Consultations are being set up around the island by MUA to share detailed proposals on its windfarm at Earystane.
The goal of the consultations is to ensure broad public engagement and address concerns from all affected communities.
Public Feedback
The Authority received feedback that none of the consultations were to take place in the area predominantly affected by MUA’s plans.
When asked why none of the consultations are to take place in either Port Erin or Port St Mary, MUA’s chief executive Phil King said: “We have had some early feedback on this, and we’re learning as we’re going along.”
“We’ve looked at a number of venues, and we’ve just tried to one that we thought would be attractive, easy to get, get to.
“But we have had some feedback on that, and we will perhaps try and look at another venue just, just yeah, for those people, that’s very important.”
Opportunities For Southerners
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse has expressed his feelings on the project, and has accused the utility authority of attempting to ‘divide ad conquer’ the public.
He questioned as to why there are no promoted events in the area in which the wind farm would be built.
Although the utility authority will be sending out 73 direct invitations out within the vicinity of the proposed project, this doesn’t seem to be enough for Moorhouse.

The current community consultation events will be held on:
- Saturday, October 19: Morton Hall, Castletown, 12noon-4pm
- Sunday, October 20: Douglas City Hall, 12noon-4pm
- Monday, October 21: Peel Centenary Centre, 2-7pm
- Tuesday, October 22: Douglas City Hall, 2-7pm
- Wednesday, October 23: Morton Hall, Castletown, 2-7pm
- Friday, October 25: Ramsey Courthouse, 2-7pm
- Saturday, October 26: Peel Centenary Centre, 12noon-4pm
- Sunday, October 27: Ramsey Courthouse, 12noon-4pm.
