Rushen Heritage Trust will round off its current talk season later this month with a presentation by Manx language advocate Cathy Clucas at the Erin Arts Centre.
Gaelgeyryn of Rushen, taking place at 7.30pm on May 18, will explore the Manx speakers of Rushen, past and present, and reflect on how community identity continues to evolve.
The talk is the final event in this year’s programme and is supported by Culture Vannin as part of Blein ny Gaelgey, the Year of the Manx Language.
Cathy, raised in Port St Mary, has spent more than three decades working in Manx culture as a guide, teacher and researcher.
She now heads Yn Skimmee Gaelgagh, the Government’s Manx Language Service, and works closely with schools and community groups to keep the language thriving.
RHT Coordinator John Quirk said the season has featured a wide range of speakers and topics, from Viking art to coastal history and Manx literature, and thanked supporters, volunteers and audiences for another strong year.
