The Colby TT Camp site has been evacuated tonight as a safety precaution with the bad weather coming in.
However, in true Manx spirit the community have stepped up and opened the Colby AFC Clubhouse and the Colby Methodist Church buildings as refuge for the campers.
A spokesperson for the Colby TT Camp, Dave Everett, said: “The tents may get damaged or have to be taken down, depending on the severity of the winds.”
House Campers
Dave added: “We will be monitoring the situation constantly and depending on what happens, beds might be needed temporarily to house campers.
“If anyone has spare rooms we would be very pleased to hear from them via Jane Glover should we need them.
“We will make further announcements via Arbory and Rushen Parish Commissioners and Colby Methodist Church as events evolve. We take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and support at this tricky time.”
