Council Comments on Revoking of Schuengel

A Douglas Councillor has had his membership revoked after failing to attend three consecutive months of meetings.

Frank Schuengel had his membership revoked automatically yesterday (March 12) after failing to attend meetings.

Under legislation set by Tynwald, a Councillor’s membership is automatically revoked if they fail to attend three consecutive months of meetings.

Schuengel had been a member of the council since July 2021.

Council Comment

The Council said: “Unfortunately, this requirement has been met, and the Council does not have the vires to decide otherwise so, as of yesterday (March 12, 2025), Mr Schuengel ceased to be a member of the local authority.

“During yesterday’s (Wednesday) Council meeting, Members expressed their appreciation for his service since he was elected in July 2021.”

Douglas City Council thanks Frank Schuengel for his contribution to the local authority and wishes him well for the future.
