Crowes Reflect on ‘Massive Crash’

Ryan and Callum Crowe have spoken of their lucky escape their terrifying crash during practice week.

The sidecar pairing confirmed they both suffered broken bones and severe bruising following the incident on Wednesday. They are now in a rest-and-recovery phase before rehabilitation can begin.

“There’s no getting away from it: it was a massive crash, and it shook us,” the brothers said. “We were lucky to come away as lightly as we did considering the speed and how we came off, but we weren’t unscathed.”

The brothers had built a new bike and developed the engine over the winter, with testing going well before the event.

However, after their crash they expressed gratitude to Ben Birchall and Mark Wilkes, who were first on scene, as well as marshals, medics and staff at Nobles Hospital.

They also thanked sponsors, TT organisers, the ACU and fans who purchased merchandise.

The brothers added: “We’re gutted we couldn’t give you a more memorable TT (for the right reasons), but we truly appreciate you standing by us.”
