Dunlop and Hodson Win Opening Races

Southern 100 Michael Dunlop and Rob Hodson

Michael Dunlop has continued his brilliant year on Manx roads by winning the first race of this year’s Southern 100 meeting.

Dunlop won the shortened senior race which was called after a red flag incident at Ballawhetstone.

The rider involved in that crash was said to be “up, conscious and talking” before being taken to Noble’s Hospital for a check up.

Jamie Coward finished in second and Davey Todd third, with Laxey’s Dean Harrison the highest placed island resident in fifth.

The second race of the night saw Rob Hodson win the Mike Kerruish Plumbing lightweight race with Jamie Coward and Davey Todd again taking second and third.

Roads around the course will close tomorrow at 6.05pm, with four races scheduled including the Ace Hire Sidecar Race where Callum and Ryan Crowe will be on pole.
