Ahead of the September 2026 Keys election, an information event will help potential candidates decide whether to run.
Manx politics, dominated by independent candidates rather than parties, is highly personal, a strength in many ways, but one that can make deciding whether to run a difficult step for would‑be candidates.
To support those weighing up a campaign, Professor Peter W. Edge and Dr Catriona Mackie will host an event on April 22 at Ballakermeen High School, with an option to join online.
Drawing on their research project, Women in Manx Politics, they will explore the realities of standing for the Keys, dispel common election myths, and share insights from successful candidates of previous years.
The session will also highlight key resources and support available to anyone thinking of contesting one of the island’s 24 seats in September.
