It was a busy weekend across the Isle of Man hockey leagues.
In the Men’s Premier Division, Vikings A overcame Valkyrs A 3–1. It was level at half time, but Vikings struck twice late on through Tom Burrows, Archie Caley, and Josh Kaighin. Goalkeeper Harry Woods was named player of the match for keeping Vikings in it with crucial saves.
Men’s Division One saw Valkyrs C defeat Castletown B 5–1, despite Michael Corlett’s first‑half strike for Town. Jake Tustrum impressed on the wing. Ramsey B lost 5–3 to Vikings C, with senior debuts for Cam Eyres and Jed Dixon‑Howells, who scored his first goal late on. Goalkeeper Mark Arden was Ramsey’s standout.
Bacchas B edged Valkyrs B 1–0 in a fiercely competitive clash, Lucas Adams excelling at right back.
In the Ladies Premiership, Valkyrs Ladies A opened their season with a commanding 7–0 win over Castletown Ladies B. Ellen Robinson led the way with a hat‑trick, while Ellan Cleator, Andrea Littlejohns, Becci Pate, and Jess Loader also scored. Rhea Maher impressed on her debut, and Loader took player of the match honours.
Bacchas Ladies A also claimed a 3–0 victory over Harlequins Ladies A, with Leah Mellor netting twice and Sophie Hudson adding the third. Mellor was named player of the match.
Ladies Division One produced plenty of close contests. Castletown C beat Bacchas C 1–0 thanks to Dani Kelly’s strike, with Clare Powner named player of the match. Castletown Ladies C also won 1–0 against Bacchas Ladies C, Abbie Haswell starring in midfield.
Valkyrs B and Bacchas B drew 2–2, with Sienna Millward scoring both goals for Bacchas and earning player of the match.
Ramsey A drew 1–1 with Vikings B, Sarah Bull scoring for Ramsey and Christina Kermeen impressing with her tireless play.
Valkyrs Ladies C tied 1–1 with Harlequins, Finn Martin scoring and taking player of the match, while debuts for Saoirse Gell, Mary Haddow, and Bethany Chapman added positives in a spirited opener.
