The Speaker of the House of Commons has paid tribute to the Isle of Man’s next Bishop, Patricia Hillas.
Posting to Instagram, the current speaker Lindsay Hoyle said: “This morning, I paid tribute to Speaker’s Chaplain, the Venerable Patricia Hillas or ‘Tricia’ to many of us, who is soon to become the next Bishop of Sodar and Man.
He added: “Since 2020, Tricia has been a compassionate figure supporting Members and staff across the Parliamentary community.
“She will be greatly missed, and I wish her the very best.”

Her consecration as Bishop of Sodor and Man will be held at York Cathedral at 11am on October 10.
There will then be an enthronement service at Cathedral Isle of Man in Peel at 2pm on Saturday November 16.
Upon her appointment, Bish Trish will also get a seat in Tynwald due to the Church of England’ retaining its’s historic right to involve itself in Manx politics.
Tickets will be required for those attending the event at the Cathedral and these will be made available in due course.
