Passengers on this evening’s diverted London City flight have been told by ground staff “You are not a priority”.
Angry passengers are still waiting to find out if they have a hotel room tonight and some have only just received their luggage.
The Loganair flight from London City departed the docklands at 7.30pm this evening and was due in to Ronaldsway at 8.50pm.
But when the flight was over Cheshire, the Captain told passengers that they had just received news that the Isle of Man airport was closing and they would have to divert to Liverpool.
The ATR aircraft touched down just before 8.30pm but by 9.35pm, many passengers had not received luggage and others were waiting in a queue to find out if hotel accommodation was being arranged.
Swissport
A Manager from ground handlers Swissport told angry passengers that they were ‘not a priority’ as they were dealing with other flights. One passenger was allegedly told “if I hadn’t let you off the plane you’d still be sat there”.
The disgruntled passenger said the girl on the desk is doing her best, but the Manager couldn’t seem to care less. When asked about information he said that they were too busy to be communicating with the passengers.
The passenger also told Manx.News that officials are now struggling to find hotel rooms and are looking at putting passengers up in the city centre almost ten miles away.
They ‘think’ they are going to be re-booked on an 8.15am flight to the Isle of Man tomorrow morning, although they have not had that officially confirmed yet.
Easyjet
Passengers on Easyjet’s Gatwick flight will also be spending the night in a hotel or airport floor.
The Easyjet flight was over Luton when they got word that the Isle of Man was closing, so they returned to Gatwick.
Both sets of passengers were told that the closure was due to Isle of Man Air Traffic Control closing early.
