A minister has apologised to the House of Keys after providing incorrect information about funding for a new ambulance station.
Claire Christian, Minister for Health and Social Care, told members in June 2025 that £125,000 had been approved for the Eastern Ambulance Station project.
However, she has now said that statement was wrong.
Speaking in the House of Keys on Wednesday, Ms Christian said the Strategic Asset and Capital Investment Committee (SACIC) had actually withdrawn that support in February 2025 following a change in scope.
“I advised members that £125,000 had been approved by the Strategic Asset and Capital Investment Committee from the Project Development Fund to scope and make ready an ambulance centre. That statement reflected the information which I understood to be correct at that time,” she said.
Ms Christian added: “I subsequently discovered that SACIC withdrew that support for approval in February 2025 following a change in scope, and requested that the department submit a revised application once updated plans were available.”
“Unfortunately, this change was not brought to my attention before I addressed this house, and I regret that this has resulted in an inaccurate response.”
She apologised “for the confusion this has caused” and for the “very long delay in correcting this record”.
