The Eric and Marion Scott Oncology Day Unit and Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service at Noble’s have successfully retained the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark.
The Oncology Unit received the highest rating of ‘Exceeds Requirements/Excellent.’
The award recognises excellence in cancer care environments, focusing on accessibility, privacy, comfort, and patient-centred care.
Assessors noted the unit’s commitment to “meeting the highest possible standards for cancer care environments,” ensuring a positive experience for patients.
Fabulous
Opened in July 2019, the Eric and Marion Scott Oncology Day Unit was funded through charitable donations. It provides systemic anti-cancer therapies, staffed by specialist nurses, pharmacists, and support workers.
Patient feedback praised the team, with one saying: “The support is fabulous. They treat me as a person, not just a patient.”
Macmillan Senior Matron Cathie Quine said: “Receiving this prestigious mark is a testament to our team’s dedication. Patients described the unit as clean, comfortable, and safe—but most of all, they felt genuinely cared for.”
Sheila Lloyd, Interim Executive Director of Nursing, added: “I am very proud of the staff who support patients and families through their care and treatment.”
