The Isle of Man Meat Company has received around £19.4 million in government subvention and funding approvals since 2021.
A written question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge has revealed every approved business case submitted to Treasury’s internal funds over the past five financial years.
The Meat Plant features repeatedly, with substantial bids approved under the Agriculture and Forestry Fund (AFF) and, in some years, the Contingency Fund.
The figures show:
2021/22:
- £500,000 grant request approved
- £2,000,000 subvention partially approved
2022/23:
- Two further subvention approvals of £2,000,000 and £1,100,000
2023/24:
- £2,000,000 subvention approved
- An additional £1,600,000 approved through a joint AFF/Contingency Fund bid
2024/25:
- A further £4,220,000 subvention approved
2025/26:
- Subvention request of £6,000,000 approved
