Period Products Act Goes For Royal Assent

Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher says she is “proud” after Tynwald Members signed her Period Products (Free Provision) Act 2026.

This will allow the act to proceed for consideration by the UK Ministry of Justice.

The signatures, required before Royal Assent can be granted, were secured despite a small number of Members choosing not to sign.

Faragher said there were still enough signatures for the Act to move forward and that she expects to hear back from the Ministry soon.

The legislation aims to tackle period poverty by ensuring free access to period products, mirroring similar laws introduced elsewhere.

Faragher said she hopes the Act will raise awareness of the wider issues surrounding period poverty and improve the health and wellbeing of women on the island.
