Police Axe Community Drop ins

The Police have informed a local authority they have withdrawn its community drop in service with immediate effect.

The Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team had offered a “drop in” service based at Onchan Commissioners on two Tuesday mornings per month.

The Commissioners received a letter from the Constabulary saying that it could no longer provide the resources for it.

The service had allowed members of the public the opportunity to attend without prior appointment to discuss any matters with a designated officer from the team who is the point of contact between the police and the authority.

In the agenda for this week’s meeting, the authority noted: “Unfortunately, the authority has received notification that with immediate effect the Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team will no longer be able to provide the resource required to enable the “Drop In” sessions to continue to be offered, nor will a designated officer be a nominated point of contact between the police and the authority.

“At this time there is no indication if the service provision will be able to be resourced again in the future.”
