Polish Head of Mission Visits Island

The government has welcomed the Polish Head of Mission, Mr Rafał Wiśniewski, during an official visit to the island to mark strengthening ties between the two nations.

Mr Wiśniewski was accompanied by senior representatives from the Polish Embassy and Consulate, including Consul General Ireneusz Truszkowski and Director for Consular Affairs Justyna Chrzanowska.

The delegation met with Chief Minister Alfred Cannan MHK and Treasury Minister Chris Thomas MHK to discuss opportunities for deeper cultural, educational and economic cooperation.

The visit coincides with the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Douglas, a milestone reflecting the growing relationship between the Island and its Polish community.

Chief Minister Cannan said visits like this help “strengthen our international relationships and showcase all that the Isle of Man has to offer”, adding that the contribution of the Polish community is “greatly valued”.

Treasury Minister Chris Thomas MHK said he was pleased to support the meeting, noting discussions on financial services, shipping, social security, e‑visas and even the Manx language. He said the government is committed to developing international partnerships that support the economy and benefit local communities.

The Isle of Man is home to a long‑established Polish community, with cultural and economic links between the jurisdictions continuing to grow. Alongside official meetings, the delegation is taking part in a wider programme of cultural visits and community engagement during their stay.
