Riding for the Disabled Isle of Man celebrated in style as riders and supported gathered for the Presentation Evening of the 2025 RDA Virtual National Championships.
The Manx group entered 13 riders into this year’s Championships, with eight taking part in competition for the very first time.
Building on their success in the 2024 Dressage and Countryside Challenge classes, the team expanded their entries this year to include Showjumping.
Some riders also submitted videos filmed during their summer visit to Clwyd Special Riding Centre.
Top Finishes
The team of thirteen did the Isle of Man proud, bringing home an incredible 22 top-six placings.
Rosettes and class championship medals were presented by the Mayor of Douglas to delighted riders, who were cheered on by volunteers, parents, family members, teachers, sponsors and representatives from both the Manx Horse Council and Isle of Man Sport.
Jackie Turnbull, RDA Isle of Man Group Chair, said: “The Virtual Championships is a competition that allows RDA riders from over 450 groups to enter by video submission, riding horses they know and filmed at their usual location.
“The Isle of Man RDA rides out of Guilcagh Stables near Andreas, and we are so grateful to Rose and her team for preparing the horses and supporting our involvement in this competition.”
She added: “We could not be prouder of our riders and the effort they have put into embracing their entries this year. Being able to present their awards in front of their parents was a pure joy.”
Riding for the Disabled Isle of Man is a 100% volunteer-run and self-funded charity, providing positive horse experiences for island residents with additional needs.
The group will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.
