Dreemskerry Road in Maughold will remain closed tonight after a tree was brought down in the storm last night.
This road will remain closed overnight between the junction with the main A2 into Ramsey and Jacks Lane.
When the tree fell it destabilised the sod bank above the road and at least two other trees are now considered to be at imminent risk of falling, and would likely bring more of the bank down if this happened.
As a result, the DoI says the others will be felled with heavy lifting equipment being brought to the site tomorrow to deal with this.
It said: “Once the trees have been cleared away, the area will be further assessed in order to understand whether further work is required to ensure the bank is stable and also whether any work is required to repair the highway retaining wall on the other side of the road onto which the first tree had fallen.
“Depending what is found, will determine whether or not the current emergency road closure has to be extended beyond tomorrow.”
