The Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann has made a £2,000 donation to disaster‑relief charity ShelterBox following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.
The earthquakes have claimed at least 1,400 lives and left tens of thousands of families without homes.
The funds will help provide customised ShelterBoxes and emergency kits containing robust tents, shelter tools, solar lights, thermal blankets, sleeping mats, cooking utensils and water‑purification equipment, items designed to offer immediate safety and dignity to families who have lost everything.
ShelterBox, founded by Rotarians and now Rotary International’s official global disaster‑relief partner, is working directly with Rotary districts inside Venezuela to coordinate safe delivery of aid alongside local authorities.
Club President David Scott said the scale of destruction was “truly heartbreaking”, adding that partnering with ShelterBox ensures the donation “immediately provides safe shelter and dignity to families facing unimaginable trauma”.
He urged other clubs and members of the public to support the humanitarian response.
