Retailers have been slow to accept digital age verification for alcohol despite three approved apps being available, Tynwald has been told.
Jane Poole-Wilson, Minister for Justice and Home Affairs, said that the Yoti application, Post Office Easy ID and Lloyds Bank Smart ID are all approved for use on the island.
Traditional forms of ID including passports, driving licences and proof of age cards remain acceptable.
The minister said the issue has been a standing item on the Isle of Man Licensing Forum agenda.
“The forum has acknowledged that the roll out has been gradual in order to build up confidence for retailers and awareness for the public, and accept that use has been limited,” Mrs Poole-Wilson said.

She added: “Targeted work is ongoing with businesses that are known to not be accepting this form of ID to enable them to do so. However, it has also been acknowledged that there have been limited cases where the public have presented digital ID.”
Dr Alex Allinson, who raised the question following constituent concerns, called for consistency across the island.
He asked the minister to continue working with retailers, particularly large chains whose head offices may be unaware of Manx legislation.
A licensing forum survey is being developed to assess how widely digital ID is being accepted and what training is needed.
