A non-executive director of the Manx Development Corporation has told a Tynwald committee of an element of frustration over government’s inaction on releasing some of its unused land.
David Peach and managing director Dane Harrop appeared before the Economic Policy Review Committee this morning.
Mr Peach told the committee that three years since the taxpayer owned company was established, it has made “some good progress”, including the former Nurses’ Home on Westmoreland Road which is due to be completed in quarter one next year.
However, he added: “From my point of view, there is an element of frustration over sites that are owned by departments that have sat empty and have been for many, many years that are sat there waiting for, as far as I can tell, unfunded things to build.
“So Park Road is a good example, I think the department for education wants to build a school there, however MDC could have by now probably completed a development there.”
