This weekend is the annual Southern District Agricultural Show which will showcase some of the best livestock the island has to offer, as well as fun for all the family.
The show is once again being held at Orrisdale Farm in Ballasalla.
So what do you need to know? We, along with the Southern District Agricultural Show have answered your most asked questions:
- Gates open to the public at 9:30am on both days.
- There is plenty parking, you will be guided where to park when you arrive at the show.
- Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the gate with cash or card. Organisers of the show advise purchasing online to help with the queue!
- Tickets for Saturday are £9 and Sunday £7, children go free both days!
- There is a disabled access car park, you can use your normal blue badge to access it.
- Dogs are allowed by they must be kept on leads and away from horses and livestock.
- There is lots of food available with a large choice of island based caterers on the show field.
- To get to the show via car – follow the signs from Douglas and the South, although access to the car parks is only from the Main A5 Douglas to Castletown Road
- The show is also on the main bus route to the South and all busses will stop at the bottom of the Show field – If coming by bus then enter through the gate at the bottom of the field.
What’s on?
Obviously there will be animals – cows, sheep, horses and dogs, but there will be much more than that.
There will be displays from some of the island’s dance schools, classic car parades, Pony Club games demonstration, and of course, the trade stands.
The Farm, Garden and Confectionery section is always a fantastic section to get involved with plus, a bonus for unorganised people like me, you don’t need to pre-enter!
Just bring your entries along this evening evening between 4pm and 8pm, or for the super unorganised (me) tomorrow morning before 9am.
