A hotelier says the Enterprise Minister has apologised for saying that hotels are full in this month’s Tynwald sitting.
Tim Johnston said that Manx hotels are “full all season” which sparked disagreement among Tynwald members and the hospitality industry.
Lucy George of the Welbeck Hotel said hotels are not getting the occupancy that the minister seems to think they are.
She was concerned as to where the minister was getting his information from.
Error of Judgment
Since the Tynwald sitting, Lucy said she had spoken to the minister and asked where he got his figures from.
She told Manx.News, that Mr Johnston said he’d made an error of judgement.
Lucy said the Ministers comments were “really dangerous” for a sector which is looking to rebuild itself in the coming years.
The Department for Enterprise was contacted for comment or clarification on the minister’s words in Tynwald.
