Politicians say the new schedule for TT 2026 will enhance the event’s resilience and the experience for visitors, directly supporting the local economy.
An updated schedule has been confirmed for the 2026 TT, with changes also made to some classes.
While the government has reported 51,650 visitors to TT25, the most in over 15 years, there was criticism this year that the wider island isn’t truly benefitting.
Minister for Department for Enterprise, Tim Johnston said: “The strategy we set out in 2022 aimed to secure the sustainability of the TT, grow its global reach, and increase its economic contribution to the Isle of Man – and we are already seeing the benefits of that work.
“Every decision we make is about maximising that potential for the Isle of Man – creating economic value, enhancing our global profile, and ensuring that the TT continues to bring benefit.”
Local Businesses
Mr Johnston also outlined how a new planned rest day would boost local businesses.
He said: “This planned break will give fans more time to enjoy the island, explore local businesses, and participate in the wider cultural and tourism offering, further boosting the value the TT delivers to our economy.”
Sarah Maltby MHK, political member for motorsport and tourism, added: “This year’s record-breaking visitor numbers are a strong indication of the progress we are making and demonstrate that our evidence-led approach is working.”
