The Steam Packet says Manxman will be deep cleaned and undergo some maintenance while the Ben-my-Chree takes over for the day.
Former flagship the Ben will sail to Heysham tonight and cover Thursday’s sailings.
Manxman will then return to duty on Friday morning for the 11am sailing to Heysham.
The company said: “As fleet reserve vessel, Ben-my-Chree is kept ready to be able to step in to cover sailings where necessary, but can also go out on charter to other operators, subject to a return clause to comply with Sea Services Agreement provisions.
“While Ben-my-Chree is in service the opportunity will be taken to deep clean Manxman and complete maintenance tasks that are not possible while the vessel is in day-to-day service.”
There is some disruption to sailings this weekend as tidal issues at Heysham have led to cancellations and moved sailings.
