Manx Utilities has submitted plans for a new electric charging point outside the Sea Terminal.
It would double the capacity at the terminal to four cars.
The car park at the front of the port currently has one charger which allows for two cars to charge at one time.
Under the plans, the next two parking spaces would be given over to the new planned charging point.
Earlier in the year, the MUA applied to install new bays at the airport at a cost of £415,000. That application is still pending.
