Five Receive Birthday Honours Gongs

Five islanders have been recognised by The King in the 2026 Birthday Honours List.

Jane Kelly receives an MBE for services to emergency planning and the veteran community.

As the Isle of Man Government’s Emergency Planning Officer, she led the revision of the Major Incident Response Plan and coordinated multi-agency emergency planning.

A former Royal Air Force Warrant Officer and Commissioned Officer, she has served for more than a decade as Secretary and Welfare Officer of the Isle of Man Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association.

Claire McCabe is awarded an MBE for services to the Royal British Legion and the veteran community.

She has served as Isle of Man County and UK National Standard Bearer, representing the Legion at major commemorative events worldwide, including the funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Detective Constable Kate Crompton receives the King’s Police Medal for distinguished service investigating serious sexual offences. She has secured convictions against numerous dangerous offenders and is praised for her compassion and support to victims.

Margaret Quilliam is awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) for more than 30 years of loyal service to Government House.

She retired in 2008 to care for her terminally ill husband but returned to provide vital support during staff absences and major official engagements.

Moira Chrystal receives the British Empire Medal for services to local government and the Ramsey community.

She has served Ramsey Town Commissioners for more than 50 years and continues to work as a Public Registrar.
