Sandy’s Surgery a Success

The MSPCA has thanked donors who supported its appeal to fund surgery for a cat found injured last week.

Alerted after a concerned resident in Sandygate spotted the cat dragging his back legs, terrified and in pain, the charity rescued Sandy and realised he had suffered a shattered pelvis with multiple fractures.

However, the Manx public stepped up and donated several thousand pounds for life-saving surgery.

The MSPCA’s Krysia Boruch said: “On behalf of everyone at the ManxSPCA, I want to extend a heartfelt thanks for your contribution to Sandy’s appeal.

“Thanks to your generosity, his veterinary fees are now fully covered, with enough additional funding to ensure that he has the very best post-operative treatment and care.

“I am happy to advise that Sandy’s four-hour surgery, which took place on Friday April 11, was successful.

“However, his recovery will be ongoing and while he is not fully in the clear, he is eating well and seeking affection from those around him (and his ‘bodily functions’ have returned!).

“He is staying with Point of Care vets for the time being, and the veterinary team there are very hopeful for his continued progress and that he will ultimately be able to live life to the full in due course.”

She added that the charity will post updates on Sandy as he recovers from his ordeal.
