Savings From Service Changes Will Be ‘Minimal’

The Isle of Man Post Office does not expect to make significant financial savings from the changes to bill‑payment services announced earlier this month.

Responding to a written question from MHK for Rushen Juan Watterson, the Chair of the Post Office, Stu Peters MHK, said the adjustments, announced on February 4, were introduced to meet regulatory obligations rather than to cut costs.

Mr Peters said it was not possible to provide a precise estimate of the financial impact, but any effect on the organisation’s budget was expected to be “minimal”.

The changes restrict where customers can pay certain bills and introduce a £650 transaction limit at designated counters. They will come into force on April 1.
