Work Ongoing to Lift USA Suspension

Isle of Man Post Office says it is working to restore a sustainable parcel service to the United States by June, following a suspension last year.

Services were halted in August 2025 after the USA introduced strict new customs rules. These require duty payment and full electronic data submission before parcels leave the sender’s country.

In an update issued today, the IOMPO said that developing a compliant solution is “a complex matter” requiring coordination with multiple partners. It confirmed a clear path is now identified.

“We have now identified a viable path and are working towards a solution that we expect to make available to customers no later than June,” a spokesperson said.

“While this timeframe is longer than any of us would like, it reflects the practical dependencies involved.”

The Post Office confirmed it explored interim options but found none would provide a reliable service due to external “third-party dependencies”.

The solution being developed is also designed to be adaptable for future international regulatory changes.

The suspension affects all goods sent to the USA, but does not impact letter mail services.
